I work in Philosophy / School of Global Affairs at Lancaster University. For 2025-26, I am Visiting Professor in the Centre for Ethics, University of Toronto.

I write and teach on ethics and political theory, with a special focus on Kant. I've also researched a range of practical questions, especially in food systems and public health.
These pages give some information about my writing and the collaborative research projects I'm involved in.
Before coming to Lancaster, I taught at the University of Central Lancashire's Centre for Professional Ethics. My first position was in Politics at Manchester University.
I've also been a Visiting Professor at Ruhr University Bochum, and a Visiting Fellow at the University of Amsterdam, Copenhagen Business School, the European Academy in Bad Neuenahr, and the University of St Andrews.
I studied at Manchester University, taking degrees in Philosophy & Politics (BA) and Health Care Ethics (MA), as well as writing my PhD on knowledge and action in Kant's philosophy.
